Cleaning and pickling sections for metal strip
At the end of 2008 Società delle Fucine S.r.l., a company of ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni S.p.A., ordered to Tecnocentro eng. the design, supply and commissioning of the combustion and control system of a huge industrial furnace for surface quenching of rolling mill rolls.
Furthermore Tecnocentro was commissioned to develop the entire plant engineering, included all the auxiliaries parts.
Max duration of the surface heating phase (920°C): 80 min
Max admissible temperature difference: ± 10°C
The furnace consists of the following parts:
- the furnace itself, made by two mobile semi-shells, bearing the burners;
- the quenching unit, with the water spraying system and the air blowers;
- the mobile car, carrying the roll rotating by a suitable equipment.
The whole design has been carried out by a 3D CAD.
The commissioning has been completed at the beginning of 2010 and the furnace is fully operating with excellent results(roll table Delta HSc: less than 8 – typical 4/6; roll neck Delta HSc: less than 10 – typical 2/3).
